Deana Enebo-Short, M.A. LMHC, NCC
Deana offers session in person or via secure telehealth.
Deana is passionate about helping people understand themselves and get the best of themselves. Whether the impetus for change was a conscious choice, the choice of someone else or adaptation to an illness, there is hope because people are created to adapt. Deana has 20 years of experience successfully walking people toward successful change.
Deana is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington (Counselor License # LH10999). She has been in practice since 2002. She is a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor with the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and a National Certified Counselor (NBCC) and member of the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association (WMHCA).
Deana received specific training in counseling victims of sexual abuse and was a volunteer therapist at the Kitsap Sexual Assault Center from 2003-2005. She has further study in trauma counseling including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is trained also in Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing (CISD). Deana was a long-standing member of the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management's Critical Incident Stress Management team. Prior to becoming a counselor, she spent several years assisting Christian relief and development teams in East Africa. Since that time, she has also remained active in the preparation and training of individuals heading overseas for short and long-term ministry. Deana is available to provide assessment and debriefing services for international mission organizations.
Deana obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Seattle Pacific University. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon via their Seattle campus that is now the Seattle School for Psychology & Theology. She completed level one and two training in EMDR in 2005. Deana has specialized EMDR training for use with children as well as in coping with Chronic Pain.
Deana’s treatment approach is eclectic. This means a wide variety of treatment techniques and approaches are utilized dealing with beliefs, thoughts, feelings, values and behavior patterns and interpersonal dynamics. My practice philosophy is informed by the bio-psycho-social, cognitive behavioral and interpersonal theories, client centered, solution focused therapy, EMDR, play therapy and sand tray. My underlying values as a person and as a therapist are Christian. The course of treatment for each client is dependent upon individual factors and may be personally discussed with you at any time.
