Kim Kessell
Kim Mayes-Kessell, MA, has 15 years experience in the mental health field and additional years in other areas of health care. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seattle University in Humanities (1985) and completed her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at City University of Seattle in 2007. She is a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
She specializes in anxiety, depression, relationship transitions, adolescent mental health issues, pre-marital and marital counseling.
Kim uses several therapy techniques (cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, inner healing, psycho-dynamic, and family therapy) to help clients discover healthy personal boundaries and overcome negative thinking patterns. In addition to talking therapy she offers homework outside of the sessions so clients can gain insight, practice new skills and rehearse new behaviors. She is experienced in facilitating adult and youth support groups, crisis intervention, family reconciliation, and anger management. She provides counseling services to individuals and families with emotional, psychological, and behavioral concerns.
